Sky Italia accuses regulator of favouritism
Sky Italia has accused the Italian communications regulator Agcom of being biased in favour of rival broadcaster Mediaset.
Sky-I is seeking €100 million on damages from the regulator, claiming that its 2011 decision to allow Mediaset’s advertising agency Publitalia to sell commercial airtime across analogue and digital channels both distorted the market and went against an earlier ruling.
In 2005 Agcom told Mediaset it should use separate agencies for analogue and digital airtime, Mediaset later establishing Digitalia to sell commercials on its Mediaset Premium pay-TV service.
Neither Agcom or Mediaset have commented publicly.
