Ward Platt has been named chief operating officer of Fox
International Channels (FIC) and CEO of National Geographic Channels
International (NGCI).
Previously FIC’s Asia Pacific and Middle East president, Platt ran 18
offices in the region and was in charge of 129 Fox-branded and operated
channels.
He will work across the company’s global growth plans, relocating from
Hong Kong to Los Angeles and continuing to report into FIC president and
CEO Hernan Lopez.
As CEO for NGCI – a joint venture from National Geographic Ventures and
Fox Entertainment Group – Platt will oversee all areas of business,
including programming and syndication for Nat Geo channels outside of
the US.
FIC Asia chief operating officer Zubin Gandevia will take on Platt’s remit, having been promoted to president.
Gandevia, who will report into Platt, was previously in charge of
developing business for Asia Pacific and the Middle East and oversaw
FIC’s growth in China, Taiwan and India.
“I’ve had the privilege of working with Ward for 13 years and his
leadership has been integral to the success in this region,” said
Gandevia. “I look forward to continuing Ward’s success and taking our
business in this part of the world to the next level.”
