Turkey's Digitürk platform could be sold off in whole or in part
after the Turkish State Fund Savings Deposit Insurance Fund (TMSF)
seized all assets of the Çukurova Group, the majority owner of Digitürk
and Show TV broadcaster.
According to local reports, TMSF is to enter talks with Providence
Equity Partners, which holds the 47% of Digitürk not owned by Çukurova,
with a view to selling either Çukurova's stake or organising a joint
sale of the company.
French Canal+ Group is also reported to be among the possible buyers of
the DTH platform. In 2011 Canal+ Group unsuccessfully attempted to buy
Providence's shares. The company was then valued at around €1 billion.
In a statement, Digitürk assured its partners that this move will have no impact on the platform's subscribers.
