Sky Mobile is to launch 5G connectivity on its Network by November 2019, the operator has announced.
It plans to launch in an initial six towns and cities, London, Edinburgh, Cardiff and Belfast, as well as Leeds and Slough, with a further 20 being added by the end of the year and a total of 50 going live by the end of 2020.
Sky has a MVNO (Mobile Virtual Network Operator) agreement with O2.
The operator will continue to offer unlimited streaming of Sky movies and TV shows without using any data allowance. It will also allow customers to rollover any unused data to the next month up to a maximum of three years.
Those opting for a 5G handset can choose to update their phone every year without changing contract with Sky Mobile’s Swap plans. At launch Sky will be offering 5G Ready Handsets from Huawei and Samsung.
The Huawei Mate 20 X 5G starts from £36 per month, while the Samsung offer is for the Galaxy S10 5G.
