3D first for UPC Direct
3D first for UPC Direct The Hungarian DTH platform UPC Direct will show the Champions League Final between Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich on May 25 in 3D. This will be its first-ever 3D transmission and a result of cooperation between UPC DTH, the platform’s operator, and Sport 1 HD. The event will be available to anyone who as access to a 3D TV set and an HD satellite receiver besides having a basic UPC Direct subscription. Commenting on the move, Zoltán Pinkola, director of marketing sales Hungary for UPC Direct, said: “We are delighted to be partnering with Sport 1, providing the highest quality viewing and creating for the Champions League Final a unique experience by making the action at Wembley Stadium available in 3D.He added: “The broadcasting in 3D of the Final for the coveted European crown broadcast by Sport 1 now complements our Sport1 HD service providing a superior value for sports enthusiasts. 2013 is marked by the continued growth of the HD package for UPC Direct, first came Sport1 HD and now another unique spectacular 3D viewing experience!” Luxembourg-based UPC DTH provides satellite TV services in the Czech Republic and Slovakia (both known as freeSAT) and Romania (Focus Sat) as well as in Hungary.
