Movistar+ to air Champions League final in 4K
Telefonica has followed Vodafone Spain’s announcement that it will be broadcasting the UEFA Champions League final exclusively in 4K Ultra HD (UHD) by also communicating that it will be offering the match in the higher resolution on its Movistar+ platform, albeit only via compatible Samsung Smart TVs. The final will be held in Cardiff on 03 June and will feature at least one Spanish team (Real Madrid or Atletico Madrid) against Juventus or Monaco. Telefonica was the first operator to broadcast a live football game in 4K in Spain back in November 2015 and last year revealed that it was aiming to reach 1 million 4K customers on the Movistar+ pay-TV network by 2018.
