Kwese Free Sports says it will to be the exclusive broadcaster of the 2018 Total African Nations Championship to be held in Kenya. This will enable the Econet-owned channel to compete with SuperSport, the South African based channel group owned by Naspers, reports Nextvame. Until now, this tournament has been the private garden of SuperSport.

In early April, SuperSport officially terminated its contract with the Kenyan Premier League (KPL) to air its matches over what it terms as breach of licence agreement. Kwese has been moving forward in its agenda to control sport diffusion in Africa. The channel has already claimed ownership for major sport league such as NBA, English Premier League and FIFA World Cup in Russia.
