Over 1 mln Slovaks watch TV via satellite - RU
Slovak regulator RU has published statistics on pay TV reception, looking at technologies used. At the end of 2016, TV broadcasting was provided based on a contract to about 1.8 million users. Most of these -more than 1 million- received TV channels via satellite (DVB-S or DVB-S2). The second most popular pay TV technology was cable TV with 413,000 active accesses, out of which 220,000 were used for digital TV broadcasting DVB-C. The third most popular was IPTV with 337,000 active accesses.

The data is based on information provided by operators to the regulator. Beside the above options, viewers can receive TV signal also via MMDS or MVDS, mobile network or FTA or pay TV via terrestrial broadcasting DVB-T. RU does not have data on how many viewers watch TV via DVB-T.
