Fox Sports EredivisieBoth UPC Nederland and DTH platform Canal Digitaal
Satelliet have signed a distribution agreement to carry the new Fox
channel and the Fox Sports premium channels.
The two platforms will carry the new free-to-view Fox channel, which is
due to launch on August 19 as well as the premium Fox Sports Eredivisie
and Fox Sports International channel, which both launch today, Thursday
August 1. The two new deals follow the broadcaster’s first carriage
agreement with the country’s largest cable operator, Ziggo.
Fox Sports Eredivisie is the new name of the existing Eredivisie Live
multiplex of channels, which carry the live games of the main Dutch
football competition. The new Fox Sports International features Barclays
Premier League, Serie A, FA Cup, League Cup, Coppa Italia, DFB Pokal
and UEFA Europa League (excluding Dutch clubs). The broadcaster also won
the right to show live coverage of Wimbledon from 2014. Until now,
these rights were owned by Chellomedia’s Sport1.
The new Fox channels are managed by Eredivisie Media & Marketing
(EMM), an FIC majority-owned joint venture between FIC, the 18
Eredivisie teams, KNVB and Endemol.
